On 10 October, Cambridge Russian School held its traditional poetry recitation competition, dedicated this year to the works of Alexander Pushkin.
This year’s competition attracted a record number of participants! Students of different ages performed poems of varying levels of difficulty, from well-known favourites such as “By the Lukomorye, a Green Oak Stands…” and “Frost and Sunshine; a Wonderful Day!” to some of Pushkin’s lesser-known works.
The children aimed not only to recite their poems from memory but also to convey the mood, imagery and emotions of Pushkin’s poetry. For many participants, the competition was a valuable opportunity to develop their confidence in public speaking.
We would like to thank all the participants for their preparation and wonderful performances, and their parents for their encouragement and support.
Special thanks go to the competition organisers, teachers Yulia Lutseva and Yulia Kulikova, our host Lika Kobzeva, and Vera Evstafyeva.
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 7 November.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this a wonderful celebration of poetry!
